So hating it upon reread was just a goddamn nightmare. A nightmare compounded by PS I Still Love You, which I found to be even worse than its predecessor. Lara Jean was the perfect eyes to read this series through. I adore Lara Jean. She’s a hopeless romantic, a baking goddess and honestly, a little bit extra. But I really loved that about her. I related to her so much and I really liked how she developed as a character and person throughout this series. She becomes much more mature and confident and outspoken as the series progresses and I really loved watching that change. Her character development was very well written, and I like how we follow her as she accrues knowledge and wisdom from her friends and family and from within herself that she takes into the next book. Her character arc felt continuous, which is great, because I hate when it feels like each books starts the character growth all over again. I loved the realism of the characters, with their unrealistic ideas: Mel with her impossible workload, and low self-belief, just waiting to implode; Cleo, full of an intelligence and self-confidence that even her own family finds intimidating; and Daisy. Trusting, happy, centred Daisy. I suffered the most with her, especially during her fog-filled week of self-deluded bliss - it was so perfectly depicted.

I'm not sure if this one or To All the Boys I've Loved Before is my favorite in the series, but I am sure that I love it. I love how it handles the stress and uncertainty surrounding graduating high school and starting college. I love how it handles changing family dynamics. And I love how much Lara Jean has matured throughout the series while also remaining her sweet self. There were even bits about this plotline that I hated. Mostly that it consisted of Peter being a completely unforgivable asshole and being forgiven somehow, and the fact that it kept referring to characters rarely mentioned as Lara Jean’s friends as if friendships could be willed into narrative being. on may 2, 2017, i expected to have a joyous reread of this series and dive delightedly into this book.

All I'll say is it was worth carrying on with. There were a few dodgy chapters that I thought about giving up when reading as they seemed a bit pointless, but as you go further through the book it all makes more sense and those chapters are actually there for a reason. Everyone is very sad. They tell each other the good things about Fox. They share stories about how wise, clever, and kind he was. This is a very good book to introduce children to coping with loss and also could be a good introduction to the subject of death.There are large pictures which would make it very easy to tell a class and show them the pictures. There are four main characters an otter, a mole, a fox and a hare.They are great friends but unfortunately one day the fox dies. They are all very sad until the squirrel, a friend, comes along and reminds everyone of all the fun times they had with the fox. they all share memories and begin the cope with the loss of the fox. I read this book during one of the RE session's at UEL and I felt it was a particularly good book to use in class when dealing with the topic of death.

Of course the main other boy fans grew attached to in the 2020 sequel P.S. I Love You was Jordan Fisher’s John Ambrose, who is completely absent in Always and Forever. How old was she even suppose to be? Because I'm not buying this 17/18 year old thing. She's passable at twelve.

I shall never forget this trilogy and never once have I been disappointed by it. It will always remain one of my favorite contemporaries. I rate this book 5 stars just as I rated the previous two. Overall, I loved how real the emotions felt in the story, but without it being overwhelming. The healing process and the sweet ending made this to an even better read that I truly enjoyed. I would highly recommend this children’s read to children who have or even have not experienced the feelings of loss and grief. It would be a great introduction and would open conversation on this otherwise sensitive subject. I was going to give this book 4.5/stars but decided on 5 because of how it made me think of it and feel days after finishing reading.

Always and Forever, Lara Jean reveals exactly how Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky's (Noah Centineo) story ends but the movie makes a few changes to Jenny's book.
